Gor Mahia winger Shariff Musa is eager to make a mark for Harambee Stars after earning a late call-up ahead of international friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal in Turkey.
Musa’s selection comes after a series of impressive performances for Gor Mahia, highlighted by his recent goal in a 2-0 victory over Kenya Police. His contribution, including goals and assists, has raised his profile in domestic football and caught the attention of national team coach Benni McCarthy.
Joining Musa in the national squad are Nairobi United defender Kevin Otiende and teammate Bryton Onyona, who replace Manzur Okwaro, Adam Wilson, and Vincent Harper.
Speaking after Gor Mahia’s victory over Kenya Police, Musa expressed his excitement about representing his country. “It’s a great opportunity, and I think it’s every player’s dream to represent the country. I am ready to wear the national team jersey and show what I can contribute,” he said.
Musa also reflected on Gor Mahia’s win, describing the match as a test of patience and focus. “Police are a very good side, and we approached them knowing that we hadn’t recently won against them. So, it was important for us to get a win,” he added. He emphasized that staying motivated and clear about his role in the team helped him perform at his best throughout the game.
With confidence high following his standout league form, Musa is now focused on proving that he deserves a permanent spot in Harambee Stars. The winger hopes his performances for the national team will reflect the same impact he has consistently shown in the FKF Premier League.
Shariff Musa’s call-up signals a growing pool of talent in Kenyan football, with players like him pushing to solidify their place on the international stage. As Harambee Stars prepare for their upcoming friendlies, all eyes will be on Musa to see if he can translate his domestic success into contributions on the national stage
