Tusker FC striker Deogratious Ojok has been named the club’s Player of the Month for April after a string of impressive performances helped keep the Brewers in the thick of the FKF Premier League title race.
The Ugandan forward edged out strong competition to clinch the monthly award following a closely contested internal vote. Four players were shortlisted based on their contributions during Tusker’s four April fixtures against Bidco United, Mara Sugar FC, Nairobi City Stars, and Mathare United.
Ojok won the accolade after receiving 21 of the 39 total votes cast by the club’s technical staff and team members. His main rivals for the award included Brian Opondo, Dennis Iguma, and Chris Erambo all of whom also delivered notable performances throughout the month.
Head coach Charles Okere was full of praise for Ojok’s recent form, highlighting the striker’s sharpness, work ethic, and consistent goal-scoring threat. “Ojok has been fantastic for us this past month. He’s taken his chances well, pressed with intensity, and brought energy into every game he’s played,” Okere noted. “What’s most impressive is his discipline and hunger to keep improving. This award is well-deserved, and I’m proud of the example he’s setting for the rest of the squad as we enter a critical phase of the season.”
Ojok’s ability to step up when it matters has not gone unnoticed. His goals and overall presence in the attacking third have been pivotal for Tusker as the club eyes its 14th league title. The 24-year-old forward has continued to evolve into a key figure for the Brewers, combining physical strength with intelligent movement and an eye for goal.
Reflecting on the recognition, a proud Ojok expressed his appreciation and emphasized the collective effort behind his success. “It means a lot to be recognised in this way, especially in a team full of hardworking and talented players,” he said. “Every time I step on the pitch, I want to give my best for the badge and the fans. I thank my teammates who have supported me on and off the field, and this award is a reflection of that teamwork. We have six big games to go, and I want to keep contributing as much as I can.”
With the league approaching its climax, every point will be crucial. Tusker FC currently sits second on the FKF Premier League table with 51 points, trailing leaders Kenya Police by a single point and just one ahead of third-placed Gor Mahia. The title race remains finely balanced, and performances like Ojok’s will be essential if the Brewers are to reclaim the championship for the first time since the 2021/22 season.
Tusker’s next challenge comes this Saturday when they face AFC Leopards at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. The Leopards, currently sixth in the standings, will be no pushovers, and Tusker will need to be at their sharpest to keep pace in the title chase. With Ojok in top form, the Brewers have every reason to believe they can rise to the occasion once again.
