AFC Leopards assistant coach Kenneth Wendo has dismissed claims that the technical bench received an ultimatum from fans demanding improved results or immediate action. The club, still searching for their first win of the 2025–26 FKF Premier League season, has endured a frustrating start that has left supporters increasingly vocal about their expectations.
A letter allegedly written by a section of the fanbase circulated on social media last week, warning the coaching staff — head coach Fred Ambani, assistant Kenneth Wendo, and trainer Vincent Mbwavi — to deliver victories in the next two matches or risk being forced out. The reported ultimatum followed a string of disappointing performances that have left Ingwe winless in three games.
Speaking after their goalless draw against Bandari FC at Kasarani, Wendo denied any knowledge of such communication, emphasizing that the team is not distracted by external pressure. He insisted that no official warning had been received and termed the rumours as unnecessary noise meant to unsettle the team.
“So far, I have not received any official letter on any ultimatums,” Wendo said. “These are unnecessary pressures that I would not comment on.”
Despite brushing off the rumours, Wendo acknowledged the fans’ frustration with the team’s slow start. He expressed understanding of their passion and reaffirmed the technical team’s commitment to turning around the club’s fortunes.
“Three matches without a win is a concern for our fans who are passionate about this team. We just have to work hard, win, and bring them the joy and value they deserve,” he added.
Reflecting on the team’s current form, Wendo pointed out that while the defence has shown noticeable improvement, the attacking department remains the biggest concern. The team managed a clean sheet against Bandari but lacked the creativity and finishing needed to secure all three points.
“In the first two matches, we scored but also conceded. We worked on our defensive shape and were compact against Bandari, but we failed to create enough chances or convert the few we had,” he explained.
He urged for patience and trust in the process, assuring fans that the technical bench is focused on steady progress. Wendo believes the upcoming league break, occasioned by the national mourning period following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, will allow the team time to regroup, refine their tactics, and return stronger in pursuit of their first win of the season.
