Airtel Business has launched a new feature called Business Name Display (BND). Unveiled on Monday, May 5, this innovative solution allows enterprises to display their brand names on the recipient’s phone screen during outgoing calls, significantly improving call recognition and enhancing customer trust.
The initiative comes at a time when users are increasingly ignoring calls due to the fear of spam and scam attempts. Legitimate calls from banks, healthcare providers, or delivery services are often missed as customers hesitate to answer unknown numbers. Airtel’s BND solution is designed to counter this trend by enabling businesses to clearly identify themselves during a call, thus improving engagement and ensuring critical communications are not overlooked.
“Today’s digital landscape is plagued by unwanted spam calls, which has made customers wary of answering unknown numbers. Our Business Name Display feature is a first-of-its-kind solution in India, aimed at bringing trust back to voice communication,” said Airtel Business in a statement.
The BND feature will be particularly valuable for sectors that rely heavily on phone-based communication—such as financial services, logistics, healthcare, and e-commerce. By showing a verified brand name instead of an anonymous number, businesses can not only improve their answer rates but also strengthen brand recall and customer experience.
The service is currently available to all Airtel mobile users and is expected to be rolled out in partnership with several key enterprises. It is a part of Airtel’s larger strategy to promote digital transformation for Indian businesses by offering smart and secure communication solutions.
With increasing concerns over data security and call authenticity, Airtel’s BND marks a significant step in voice call innovation. The telecom operator hopes this will encourage more transparent business communications and reduce the inconvenience caused by spam.
As customers seek more control and clarity over who contacts them, tools like Business Name Display could soon become standard across the industry, redefining how businesses connect with consumers over voice calls.
