Amazon has officially launched its latest and most advanced Kindle Paperwhite in India, priced at ₹16,999. Touted as the “fastest and best-performing” Kindle Paperwhite to date, the e-reader comes with several impressive upgrades, including a larger display, a thinner and sleeker design, and an exceptional battery life of up to 12 weeks on a single charge.
First introduced in select international markets in October 2024, the new Kindle Paperwhite is now available on Amazon.in. According to Amazon India’s Director and Country Manager, Dilip R S, the launch of the upgraded Paperwhite is a response to growing consumer demand for better reading experiences. “The Kindle Paperwhite has been a popular choice among readers for years, and we’re excited to launch the all-new Kindle Paperwhite with upgraded features that our customers will value,” he said.
The standout feature of the new Paperwhite is its 7-inch glare-free display—the largest ever on a Paperwhite model—offering 300 ppi resolution for crisp, paper-like text even under direct sunlight. Readers can now enjoy a more immersive reading experience, thanks to the adjustable warm light and dark mode settings that enhance readability in various lighting environments.
Beyond hardware improvements, the e-reader gives users access to an extensive collection of content. With over 1.5 crore eBooks available in Amazon’s Kindle Store, readers can explore titles in Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamil, and Marathi. Additionally, Kindle Unlimited subscribers can choose from a catalog of over 20 lakh titles, while Amazon Prime members enjoy a rotating selection of eBooks at no extra cost.
To complement the device, Amazon has also introduced a range of stylish covers available separately for ₹1,999 in black, marine green, and tulip pink.
While the new Kindle Paperwhite marks a major upgrade for avid readers in India, there is no word yet on whether other models like the new entry-level Kindle, Kindle Scribe, or Kindle Colorsoft will also make their way to the Indian market. For now, the revamped Paperwhite stands as Amazon’s flagship e-reader offering in the country.
