OpenAI is stepping into recruitment with its upcoming OpenAI Jobs Platform, a generative AI-powered staffing service designed to challenge LinkedIn. Announced during a recent White House tech dinner, the platform is slated to go live by mid-2026.
An AI-Driven Approach to Recruitment
The Jobs Platform will use OpenAI’s large language models to deliver precision-driven hiring solutions—automating talent matching by connecting candidate skills with employer needs. According to Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, the platform will also feature specialized services for small businesses and local governments, expanding its reach beyond corporate giants.
Beyond Matching: AI Fluency and Certifications
To strengthen its offering, OpenAI will roll out OpenAI Certifications, integrated directly into ChatGPT’s Study Mode. This feature will allow users to build AI literacy—from basic use to advanced prompt engineering—and earn recognized credentials. OpenAI aims to certify 10 million Americans by 2030 in partnership with Walmart, Accenture, John Deere, BCG, and several U.S. state-level institutions.
