Whoop, the U.S.-based health tech and wearables company, has officially launched its next-generation fitness bands the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG. These new devices mark a significant leap in wearable technology, with advanced health monitoring features aimed at redefining personal health management.
According to the company, both bands are seven percent smaller than their predecessor, the Whoop 4.0, and come with an impressive battery life of more than 14 days on a single charge. This improvement makes them not only more comfortable for continuous wear but also more convenient for users seeking low-maintenance fitness tracking.
The highlight of the Whoop 5.0 and MG lies in their new health-tracking capabilities. These include blood pressure insights, a heart screener equipped with ECH (electrocardiographic) functionality, hormonal insights, and more comprehensive biometric tracking. These additions aim to provide users with deeper, clinically relevant health data beyond standard metrics like heart rate or sleep cycles.
Will Ahmed, CEO and founder of Whoop, announced the launch via LinkedIn on May 8, emphasizing the broader vision behind the new hardware. “This is a complete reinvention of the WHOOP experience,” Ahmed stated. “At a time when healthcare systems are reactive and often inaccessible, we’re building a health platform that empowers members to put the power back in their hands.”
The launch signals Whoop’s ambition to transform from a wearable device into a comprehensive health operating system. The company aims to support proactive health management, appealing particularly to athletes and fitness enthusiasts who require precision in performance and recovery data.
Whoop bands are priced on par with smartwatches from major brands like Google and Samsung, but they have carved out a niche in the performance-tracking space. One of Whoop’s most high-profile ambassadors is football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also an investor in the company.
With this new generation of wearables, Whoop is not just offering improved fitness tracking it is aiming to be at the forefront of personalized healthcare technology.
