WISeKey International Holding, through its space subsidiary WISeSat.Space, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with INNOSPACE Co., Ltd., a leading South Korean launch-services provider, to jointly develop and deploy post-quantum secure satellites and IoT connectivity infrastructure.
Building Quantum-Resistant Global Connectivity
The partnership aims to establish a new generation of secure space-based communication systems that can withstand future cyber threats posed by quantum computing. The collaboration combines WISeKey’s cryptographic and blockchain-based security technologies with INNOSPACE’s orbital launch expertise to deliver quantum-resistant data transmission for the global Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem.
Under the MoU, WISeSat.Space will provide its advanced WISeSat satellite platform equipped with post-quantum cryptographic modules and digital identity management systems designed to safeguard data exchanged between interconnected devices. INNOSPACE will oversee launch operations using its cost-efficient hybrid rocket technology, enabling flexible and reliable deployment into low Earth orbit (LEO).
Advancing Cybersecurity in Space
“This collaboration marks a milestone in building the foundation for a quantum-safe digital future,” said Carlos Moreira, CEO of WISeKey. “By merging cybersecurity, space, and IoT innovation, we’re enabling trusted connectivity for industries and governments worldwide.”
Industry experts note that as quantum computing technology advances, traditional encryption methods could become vulnerable to decryption, making post-quantum cryptography a crucial next step in protecting sensitive data across sectors. The WISeKey–INNOSPACE partnership directly addresses this challenge by creating a space-based cybersecurity framework designed for resilience and scalability.
Positioning for the Quantum-Secure Future
The initiative aligns with a broader global push to secure critical digital infrastructure ahead of quantum computing’s mainstream adoption. By integrating blockchain technology, satellite communication, and quantum-resistant encryption, WISeKey and INNOSPACE are positioning themselves at the forefront of the quantum-secure space communications market — a rapidly emerging field blending aerospace innovation with next-generation cryptography.
Analysts predict that such collaborations will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and trustworthiness of global digital ecosystems, particularly in sectors like defense, telecommunications, logistics, and critical infrastructure management.
