Social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) is testing a new feature on its iOS app aimed at improving user engagement. The update ensures that like, reply, and repost buttons remain visible even when users interact with external links, allowing them to engage with the original post without leaving the app.
Keeping Engagement Accessible
Previously, clicking a link within a post would open a web browser, covering the original content and making it less likely for users to return and interact. The new feature collapses the original post to the bottom of the screen while keeping engagement buttons accessible, encouraging users to continue liking, replying, or reposting.
Part of X’s “Everything App” Vision
This initiative is part of X’s broader strategy to become an “everything app” where users can interact with content seamlessly without leaving the platform. The test is currently limited to iOS devices, with plans to expand based on user feedback.
AI-Powered Recommendations on the Horizon
In addition to the engagement buttons, X is revamping its recommendation system. Moving away from traditional engagement metrics like likes and replies, the platform will leverage its AI tool, Grok, to recommend posts and videos based on user interests, aiming to deliver more personalized content.
Enhancing User Experience
By keeping interaction tools visible and integrating AI-driven content suggestions, X seeks to foster deeper engagement, encourage longer app usage, and enhance the overall user experience on the platform.
