The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has moved to address public concerns surrounding temporary hoarding walls recently erected along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi. These structures, which have drawn considerable attention from residents and motorists, are part of an ongoing project aimed at improving road safety and urban mobility during a critical construction phase.
According to KURA, the temporary hoarding walls are standard safety features implemented to protect pedestrians and drivers from potential construction-related hazards. These include falling debris, heavy machinery, and dust generated during the active development of the Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue/Ngong Road/Nyerere Road Interchange. The authority emphasized that the walls are not permanent and are continuously monitored to maintain the highest safety standards.
Kenyatta Avenue is one of Nairobi’s busiest and most strategic roads, serving as a key arterial route through the city. The construction works underway are part of a broader urban road modernization initiative designed to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the capital. In this context, KURA has clarified that the hoarding is a protective barrier commonly used in major infrastructure projects to delineate construction zones and minimize risks to the public.
