The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a 28-day traffic disruption along Ngong Road near Junction Mall to facilitate ongoing flyover construction works. The temporary disruption will run from Tuesday, November 18 to Wednesday, December 10, 2025, as the authority erects a steel structure for the new flyover.
In a statement released on Thursday, November 6, KURA stated that the construction activities will be carried out between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily, excluding Sundays. The works are part of the broader Ngong Road corridor development project, which aims to improve traffic flow and enhance urban mobility in the area.
“The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) wishes to notify the general public of a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road around the Junction Mall Area effective Tuesday, 18th November 2025, to Wednesday, 10th December 2025,” read the notice.
During the construction period, traffic between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus will be diverted to accommodate two-way movement within the affected section. KURA has advised motorists to exercise caution, observe traffic signs, and follow directions from police officers and marshals deployed to manage the area.
The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road flyover project is one of KURA’s major infrastructure developments aimed at easing congestion around Junction Mall and its surrounding areas. Once completed, the four-lane flyover will feature improved junctions, walkways, and cycling lanes, enhancing accessibility and safety for both motorists and pedestrians.
KURA previously announced that the flyover is expected to be completed by July 2027. The project includes the construction of an approximately 800-metre-long bridge as part of the dual carriageway expansion.
Motorists and commuters are urged to plan their routes accordingly during the 28-day disruption to avoid delays and ensure smooth travel.
