National leaders have thrown their weight behind major road infrastructure projects in Kinangop, underscoring the government’s commitment to transforming the region’s connectivity and economic prospects. The leaders, who spoke during a thanksgiving service at AIC Church in Githioro, emphasized that the construction and rehabilitation of key roads in the area are a top priority in the government’s development agenda.
Hosted by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, the event marked the launch of the church access road, a project that received a significant boost with a Ksh 3 million pledge from President William Ruto. MP Thuku praised the move, terming it a clear indication of the government’s continued investment in local infrastructure.
Among the key projects underway is the Waki Road in Ngorano. According to Eng. Mbugua, funds have already been allocated, and the construction is set to continue uninterrupted until completion. He assured residents that all projects in the region will be implemented to the highest standards and within the set timelines.
Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, who also attended the event, highlighted the broader vision of the government’s transport agenda. She noted that good road infrastructure is crucial for reducing the cost of living and spurring economic growth, especially in rural counties such as Nyandarua.
“Quality roads facilitate trade, improve access to essential services, and promote the movement of goods and people,” said Miano. “For a county like Nyandarua, where agriculture is the backbone of the economy, roads are a lifeline for farmers looking to reach markets efficiently.”
The leaders reiterated that improved road infrastructure not only boosts agricultural productivity but also attracts investment, enhances tourism, and ensures better access to healthcare and education.
With fertile lands and vibrant communities, Kinangop stands to benefit immensely from sustained infrastructure development. The leaders’ strong backing of these projects reflects a unified commitment to uplifting the region through better roads, which are essential for long-term prosperity and inclusive growth.
