A section of Thika Road in Nairobi has been temporarily closed ahead of the Harambee Stars’ match against Seychelles. The game will take place at Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, starting at 4:00 pm.
The closure affects the stretch leading to the Kasarani roundabout. The service lane from Roysambu Roundabout is also closed. Authorities say the measures aim to ease fan movement and reduce congestion around the stadium. Despite the closure, traffic on the main highway is flowing normally. Unlike previous matches, the National Police Service (NPS) and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have not issued a formal traffic advisory.
Special Facilities for Persons with Disabilities
The FKF has introduced new facilities to make the stadium more accessible for Persons with Disabilities (PWDS).
Designated seating with ramps is available at Sections 5 and 13. Car access is through Gates 6 and 12. PWDS can also use VIP/VVIP lifts, giving them a smooth and comfortable match-day experience.
This is the first time FKF has set aside such arrangements. The move ensures inclusivity and aligns with international standards for football events.
FKF Calls Fans to Support Harambee Stars
FKF President Hussein Mohammed has urged fans to continue supporting Harambee Stars despite the team’s recent loss. Kenya was defeated 3-1 by Gambia on September 5, 2025, ending its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying hopes.
Mohammed encouraged football lovers to stay united. He said, “In football, as in life, we must stand together through both highs and lows. Victories lift our spirits, but even in setbacks, we find lessons, resilience, and renewed determination. Our commitment to Harambee Stars must remain steadfast because their journey is our journey as a nation.”
Fans are encouraged to attend the match against Seychelles and support the national team. The FKF hopes this will strengthen the team’s morale and keep the spirit of Kenyan football alive.
