The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its latest five-day weather forecast for the period between Saturday, September 27, and Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The advisory warns of varying conditions across the country, ranging from heavy rains and thunderstorms to sunny spells and chilly nights.
Nairobi and Central Highlands
Residents in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Meru should expect cloudy mornings followed by sunny intervals, with afternoon showers likely. Night temperatures could fall to as low as 5°C, while daytime highs may reach 29°C.
Western and Rift Valley
Counties including Kericho, Bungoma, Nakuru, Kakamega, Kisumu, and Bomet are set for a wet stretch, with morning showers and afternoon thunderstorms expected. Daytime temperatures may rise to 32°C, cooling to around 8°C at night. The highlands west of the Rift Valley and parts of north-western Kenya will also experience rainfall.
Northern Kenya
Turkana and Samburu will record morning showers and hot afternoons, with highs of 36°C. Nights will be much cooler, dropping to 7–8°C. Meanwhile, Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa, and Wajir will remain hot and dry, with highs averaging 37°C and nighttime lows between 14°C and 16°C.
South-Eastern Lowlands
Counties such as Machakos, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, and Taita Taveta will experience mainly sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with daytime highs of 30–32°C.
Coastal Region
The Coastline, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, and parts of Tana River, will see sunny days and partly cloudy nights. Light showers may occur in isolated areas, with daytime temperatures of 30–32°C and nighttime lows of 21–23°C.
Wind Advisory
The department has also issued a wind advisory, with strong winds of up to 46 km/h expected in coastal areas, the south-eastern lowlands, north-eastern, and north-western Kenya.
