The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a weather forecast warning of rainfall and thunderstorms in Siaya and several other regions across the country over the next four days.
According to the latest report, the rainfall is expected between October 18 and October 21, 2025, affecting parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and sections of North Eastern and North Western Kenya.
Western and Rift Valley Regions to Receive Rains
Counties including Siaya, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Nakuru, Busia, Bungoma, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, and West Pokot are forecasted to experience morning rains followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.
The KMD noted that temperatures in these regions will range between 9°C at night and 31°C during the day, with the likelihood of localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Cooler Conditions in Central Kenya and Nairobi
Nairobi and the Central Highlands, including Tharaka Nithi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Meru, and Embu, will experience cloudy mornings turning sunny with light afternoon showers.
Daytime temperatures will vary between 29°C and 30°C, while night temperatures could drop to as low as 5°C.
Hot and Dry Weather in Eastern and Coastal Kenya
In contrast, Machakos, Kitui, Kajiado, Makueni, and Taita Taveta will remain sunny and dry, with temperatures ranging from 32°C to 33°C during the day and 13°C to 15°C at night.
Meanwhile, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale will experience sunny and humid conditions, with morning showers in a few areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 32°C and 33°C, with warm nights of 22°C to 24°C.
Northern Regions to Stay Hot
Counties such as Marsabit, Garissa, Isiolo, Mandera, and Wajir will remain hot, with temperatures between 35°C and 37°C. Samburu and Turkana are also expected to receive occasional afternoon thunderstorms despite maintaining high temperatures.
