The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a weather alert for Saturday, October 25, 2025, warning of widespread rainfall across the country. According to the forecast, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected in several regions, particularly over the western Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin.
Counties likely to experience intense rainfall include Nyahururu, Baringo, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Bomet, Kericho, Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Kisii, and Nyamira. KMD cautioned residents in these areas to prepare for possible localized flooding and to exercise caution on slippery roads.
In Nairobi County and neighboring Central Highland regions including Kajiado, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Embu, Machakos, and Kitui—light rainfall and afternoon thunderstorms are forecast. The rains are expected to be sporadic but may disrupt outdoor activities. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to remain vigilant, especially in areas prone to flash floods.
The northwestern counties of Turkana and Samburu will experience partly cloudy conditions, with chances of showers in Turkana later in the afternoon. The rains may extend into the evening. Meanwhile, northeastern counties including Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo will remain mostly partly cloudy, with sand and dust devils prevailing for most of the day.
In the southeastern lowlands such as Makueni, Mwingi, Kitui, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado, residents can expect cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals, followed by light showers in the afternoon.
Along the Coastal region, including Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River, sunny intervals will dominate the day, with partly cloudy skies at night.
KMD advises the public to stay informed through official updates and plan outdoor activities cautiously.
