Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weekly weather forecast indicating that several counties across the country will experience rainfall between Tuesday, November 11, and Saturday, November 15.
According to the forecast, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kwale, Nakuru, and Machakos counties are expected to receive increased rainfall during this period. Daylong showers and rains will also affect Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties. Maximum temperatures in these areas are forecasted at 30°C, with minimum temperatures dropping to 7°C.
Eastern counties including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland parts of Tana River will experience both day and night rains for most of the week, though temperatures will be slightly warmer, with highs of 34°C and lows of 14°C.
Coastal counties—Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale—along with Tana River, will see daytime showers except on Friday afternoon and Saturday when sunny conditions are expected. Nighttime will remain mostly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 33°C.
In Western and Rift Valley regions, counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot will experience rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday, Thursday afternoon and night, as well as Friday afternoon and night. Sunny intervals will prevail on other days, with temperatures ranging between 9°C and 31°C.
Meanwhile, northern counties including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo will largely enjoy sunny conditions on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, but rain is expected on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs of 38°C and lows of 17°C. Turkana and Samburu will experience showers most of the week, apart from Saturday, which will be sunny.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against potential floods, especially in low-lying areas, and plan travel and outdoor activities accordingly.
