The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued its weekly forecast, predicting rainfall across several regions between Tuesday, November 18, and Saturday, November 22. Counties likely to experience rains and showers include Nairobi, Kiambu, Kisumu, Nakuru, Machakos, Meru, and Kitui.
Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties are expected to remain mostly sunny. However, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons may bring scattered showers, with nights remaining cloudy. Maximum temperatures in these areas will reach 29°C, while the minimum is forecasted at 6°C.
Residents in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, along with inland areas of Tana River County, should expect showers and rains throughout the week, both day and night. Saturday is likely to be sunny. Temperatures in these counties will peak at 34°C and drop to a minimum of 16°C.
Coastal counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and parts of Tana River will experience scattered showers, with nights mostly partly cloudy, except Thursday night when rain is likely. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 33°C, with nighttime lows around 23°C.
Other regions, including Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot, may experience showers and thunderstorms, particularly during the day. Nights will mostly be cloudy, except for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures in these areas will range from 8°C to 31°C.
Northern counties such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo are expected to have daylong showers in some areas until Thursday, with sunny conditions returning on Friday and Saturday. Maximum temperatures will hit 38°C, with minimums around 16°C.
Turkana and Samburu counties are expected to experience sunny days throughout the week, while nights will be cloudy. Temperatures in these areas will range between 8°C and 37°C.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions when traveling, especially in areas prone to flooding and heavy rains.
