The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly forecast, indicating that several counties, including Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Bungoma, Turkana, and Kakamega, will experience continued rainfall between Tuesday, September 30, and Saturday, October 4.
According to the forecast, sunny mornings will dominate in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi, but afternoon showers are expected in some areas. Additionally, cloudy nights are likely on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with light showers anticipated on Friday and Saturday nights. Daytime temperatures in these regions are forecast to reach 31°C, while the lowest nighttime temperatures could dip to 7°C.
Counties in the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley regions including Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot will see rains and thunderstorms both day and night. Temperatures here will range from 8°C at night to 32°C during the day.
In Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, the week will feature sunny intervals during the day and cloudy nights. Maximum temperatures are expected at 32°C, with minimums around 11°C.
Along the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and Tana River, the forecast points to sunny days and cloudy nights, with temperatures ranging between 20°C and 32°C.
The North-eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo will continue to experience hot conditions, with daytime highs of up to 39°C and lows of 14°C at night. Meanwhile, the North-western counties of Turkana and Samburu are expected to receive showers and thunderstorms, with highs of 37°C and lows of 8°C.
The forecast signals mixed weather across Kenya, with rainfall likely in several regions, while parts of the North and Coast remain hot and sunny.
