The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has announced that rainfall and showers will persist in several parts of the country this week, affecting major towns such as Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Naivasha, and Lodwar.
According to the latest weekly forecast, rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya.
Counties including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi will experience sunny mornings on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by afternoon and evening showers from Thursday through Saturday. Nights will remain partly cloudy midweek, before showers return towards the weekend.
Kenya Met projects maximum temperatures of up to 30°C and minimums of around 6°C in these highland areas.
Meanwhile, the forecast warns of thunderstorms and heavy showers in Kisumu, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot, expected to last through most of the week. These regions may experience daytime highs of 32°C and lows of 8°C.
Along the coast — including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and Tana River counties — residents can expect sunny conditions from Tuesday to Thursday, with light showers likely on Friday and Saturday. Cloudy nights will persist across these areas, with temperatures ranging between 23°C and 32°C.
In the eastern and southern counties of Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, dry and sunny days are expected, though nights will be cloudy. Temperatures here may reach 33°C.
Turkana and Samburu will remain hot and dry, with highs of 37°C, while Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo may see isolated showers by the weekend.
Kenya Met has urged motorists and residents in flood-prone areas to remain cautious as wet conditions continue across several regions.
