Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, gave a tearful address after her husband was fatally shot at Utah Valley University. Standing beside his empty podcast chair, she thanked first responders, staff, and political allies for their support.
In a livestream from Turning Point USA’s headquarters in Arizona, Erika spoke about her husband’s love for President Donald Trump, Vice-President JD Vance, the United States, and their two children. “My husband’s voice will remain,” she said, promising to continue his mission.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot on Wednesday during an open-air speaking event in Orem, Utah. Tyler Robinson, the suspected shooter, surrendered and was arrested the following night. Kirk was known for his polarizing views on gun rights, abortion, and transgender issues. He founded Turning Point USA at age 18 and became a leading voice for young conservatives.
Erika Kirk, 36, spoke about her husband’s devotion to their children—a one-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. Tearfully, she said to her daughter, “Daddy loves you so much. Don’t you worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus.” She also confirmed that Charlie’s podcast and university tour would continue.
Addressing the shooter, Erika warned: “You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. If you thought my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea what you just have unleashed across this country and the world.”
President Trump announced he would award Charlie Kirk a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom, calling him a “giant of his generation and a champion of liberty.” Turning Point USA described him as a “martyr” and “pioneer,” urging prayers for the family.
Erika Kirk, a former Miss Arizona USA, is a businesswoman, Bible scholar, and podcast host. She continues to run a ministry program and a faith-based clothing line. The couple maintains their children’s privacy despite sharing family moments on social media.
Charlie Kirk’s death has left a deep mark on American conservative circles. But Erika’s promise to carry forward his legacy shows that his influence will continue to resonate for years to come.
