Israeli forces launched a wave of airstrikes across Gaza on Saturday, November 22, 2025, killing at least 24 Palestinians, including children, and wounding 87 others. The attacks mark another violation of the six-week-old United States-brokered ceasefire in the conflict-ridden territory.
Eyewitnesses reported the first strike hit a car in northern Gaza City, followed by further attacks in central Deir el-Balah and the Nuseirat refugee camp. A drone strike in Gaza City’s Remal neighborhood killed at least 11 people and wounded 20, according to Rami Mhanna, managing director of al-Shifa Hospital.
In Deir el-Balah, an Israeli strike hit a residential house, killing three people, including a woman. Witness Khalil Abu Hatab described the attack as a “powerful explosion” that left smoke covering the area and destroyed the upper floor of a neighbor’s house.
Nuseirat also witnessed heavy destruction when a residential building was hit. Anas al-Saloul, a local resident, said, “There were injuries and deaths, and everyone in the street was covered in debris.”
The Gaza Government Media Office stated that Israel has violated the ceasefire at least 497 times since it was established on October 10, 2025. So far, 342 civilians have been killed, with children, women, and the elderly forming the majority of the casualties. The office condemned the attacks, calling them “a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law and the humanitarian protocol attached to the agreement.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the strikes were launched in response to a Hamas fighter attacking Israeli soldiers in Israeli-held territory. Israel confirmed the elimination of five senior Hamas fighters but did not immediately receive a response from Hamas regarding the incident.
As tensions escalate, Hamas has urged the United States to intervene, highlighting the fragile nature of the current ceasefire and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
