Kenya has strongly condemned Israel after a deadly bombing in Qatar on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The attack killed six people, including a Qatari internal security officer. Israel admitted carrying out the strike, saying it was aimed at Hamas leaders.
Kenya’s Response
In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs described the attack as a clear violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The Government of the Republic of Kenya notes with great concern the attack on a building in the State of Qatar that resulted in casualties, loss of life, and property,” the ministry said.
Kenya also warned that such aggression threatens regional stability and international peace. It cited the 1970 United Nations Declaration on Principles of International Law, which calls for friendly relations and cooperation among states.
Qatar’s Reaction
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the strike, calling it a “cowardly act.” The government confirmed that six people died, while several others were injured.
The bombing marked the first time Israel has attacked Qatari territory. Qatar has been a key mediator in ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.
International Outrage
Kenya joined the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom in criticizing Israel’s actions and expressing solidarity with Qatar. The European Union also urged restraint, warning that escalation in Gaza is not in anyone’s interest.
Call for Peace
Kenya stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue and respect for international law. “We urge all sides to exercise maximum restraint and pursue peaceful coexistence,” the statement added.
The incident has raised fears of wider instability in the Middle East. Kenya underlined that diplomacy, not violence, is the only path to lasting peace.
