Kenya has reiterated its commitment to a two-state solution as the viable path to resolving the protracted Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect in the region. The statement was made by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, following a meeting with ambassadors from Arab nations on Thursday.
The delegation, led by Palestinian Ambassador Hazem Shabat, held high-level talks with Mudavadi at the Railways Headquarters in Nairobi. The discussions were described as “candid and forward-looking,” with both parties emphasizing the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing long-standing issues in the Middle East.
“We remain steadfast in supporting a two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, guided by the conviction that peaceful coexistence and mutual respect are essential for lasting stability in the region,” Mudavadi stated.
He underscored that Kenya’s foreign policy is deeply rooted in promoting peace, security, and dialogue within a multilateral and rules-based global order. “Kenya’s foreign policy is anchored on advancing peace and security, deepening economic diplomacy, fostering regional integration, and safeguarding our national interests within a multilateral and rules-based international system,” he added.
Mudavadi noted that Kenya stands with the international community in advocating for constructive engagement and mutual understanding between Israel and Palestine. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Arab nations through open communication and shared commitments to peace and development.
The meeting with the Arab Group of Ambassadors reflects Kenya’s growing role as a diplomatic voice in regional and global peace efforts. As tensions continue in Gaza and across parts of the Middle East, Kenya’s reaffirmation of the two-state solution adds weight to the chorus of nations calling for a peaceful and negotiated settlement to the decades-old conflict.
Kenya’s position aligns with the broader international consensus that envisions a secure Israel living side by side with a sovereign and independent Palestinian state both enjoying recognized borders and lasting peace.
