The Kenyan government has announced plans to evacuate its citizens from Israel and Iran as tensions between the two nations continue to escalate. This urgent measure, spearheaded by the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, aims to safeguard the lives of Kenyans currently residing in the conflict-affected regions.
To facilitate the evacuation process, the government has provided a registration form and QR code, urging all Kenyans in both Israel and Iran to promptly submit their details. The Ministry made the announcement via a public notice on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the importance of swift registration for efficient coordination.
“For your safety and to ensure we can assist you promptly in case of any emergency or distress, we kindly ask you to register your details with the State Department for Diaspora Affairs,” the ministry stated.
The move comes after the issuance of an urgent security advisory warning Kenyan nationals to exercise extreme caution, minimize movement, and remain informed as the security situation in the Middle East deteriorates.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the safety of Kenyans abroad.
“The safety and well-being of Kenyans abroad remain our utmost priority as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve,” said PS Njogu.
The government has not disclosed the number of Kenyans currently living or working in Israel and Iran, but the urgency of the advisory suggests significant concern for their safety amid growing regional instability.
Evacuation plans are expected to be coordinated with Kenyan embassies in the respective countries and may involve chartered flights or assistance through friendly nations. Families of Kenyans in the two countries have also been advised to stay in touch and monitor updates from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
As the conflict continues to rage, Kenya joins other nations in taking precautionary steps to protect its citizens overseas, underscoring the growing international alarm over the security implications of the Israel-Iran tensions. Citizens are urged to follow official government channels for further instructions and updates.
