A Kenyan woman has died following a fatal stabbing in Reading, United Kingdom. Police have confirmed the attack was linked to a domestic dispute.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Linner Sang from Kericho County. Thames Valley Police said they were called to an address on the A4 London Road, near Regent Street, at around 2:35 pm on Sunday, September 7.
When officers arrived, Linner was found with fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Arrested
Police arrested a 29-year-old man, believed to be her spouse. He has not yet been named.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May, from the Major Crime Unit, said:
“We are in the very early stages of this murder investigation, but we have made an arrest and are not currently looking for anyone else. There is no known threat to the wider public.”
He also urged the public to avoid online speculation, explaining that the victim’s next of kin had not yet been contacted.
The Background
Reports from the Kenyan Diaspora Media revealed that Linner had recently graduated and moved to the UK in 2023. She was working as a Social Care Worker. Her spouse later joined her in the country and was also employed in the same industry.
The fatal altercation is said to have started on Thursday, September 3, after an argument between the couple. Linner reportedly left their apartment following the dispute.
On Sunday, she returned with a friend to collect her belongings. It was then that another confrontation broke out, leading to her tragic death.
After the Incident
Neighbours who heard her screams saw the suspect flee by jumping out of a window. Police later found him near a river, where he was allegedly attempting to take his own life. He was taken into custody shortly after.
The investigation remains active as police work to establish the full circumstances and contact Linner’s family in Kenya.
