Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed strong support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, calling the operation a “bold” and historic act. In a video statement released by his office, Netanyahu said, “Congratulations President Trump, your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history.”
The United States confirmed that it launched coordinated strikes on three critical Iranian nuclear sites: Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordo. Among them, the Fordo facility is believed to be the most fortified and strategically significant. The Pentagon has not yet released a full assessment of the damage, but reports suggest the use of B-2 stealth bombers and Tomahawk cruise missiles equipped with bunker-busting warheads.
In a televised national address, President Trump praised the strikes as a “spectacular military success” and warned Tehran against any retaliatory actions. “Iran has a choice,” Trump said. “Make peace now or face far greater consequences.”
Iranian state media initially confirmed that Fordo had been targeted, acknowledging damage to “a part” of the site. However, local coverage quickly shifted to a narrative of defiance and damage control. A presenter on Iranian state TV dismissed Trump’s statements as “bluffing,” asserting that only two access tunnels at Fordo were affected and that the site remains operational.
Morteza Heydari, the crisis management spokesperson for Qom province, where Fordo is located, confirmed the strike but emphasized that the situation remained stable. “Yes, a part of Fordo was attacked,” Heydari said, “but the province is entirely calm.”
Iranian official outlets have since attempted to downplay the incident, referring to “unverified reports” and maintaining that the strikes had limited impact.
The escalation marks a significant turning point in U.S.-Iran relations and may reverberate through the broader Middle East. While Netanyahu hailed the strikes as transformative, the coming days will likely reveal the true extent of the damage and whether Iran will respond militarily or opt for diplomatic de-escalation.
