US President Donald Trump has accused Chinese President Xi Jinping of conspiring with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un against the United States. The remarks came as China hosted its largest-ever Victory Day parade in Beijing on Wednesday, commemorating 80 years since Japan’s surrender in World War II.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you conspire against the United States of America.” He also highlighted the contributions of American forces during World War II, noting the “massive amount of support and ‘blood’” the US provided to China, and emphasized that the bravery and sacrifice of American soldiers should be honored.
The parade was a show of military strength, attended by 26 heads of state, including Putin and Kim, signaling a message to Western nations that have distanced themselves from these leaders. Analysts view the gathering as an attempt by China to position itself as a counterweight to the United States amid ongoing global tensions.
Despite his accusations, Trump previously downplayed concerns over growing ties between China, Russia, and other nations. In interviews, he argued that China “needs us much more than we need them” and dismissed the notion of an anti-US coalition. He also expressed confidence in America’s military capabilities, warning that any aggressive action by these nations would be a grave mistake.
On Russia, Trump voiced disappointment with Putin after failing to secure a peace deal for Ukraine during a recent meeting in Alaska. He stated that the US “will be doing something to help people live” in Ukraine but did not provide specific details. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported a renewed Russian troop buildup along parts of the frontline, underscoring ongoing concerns over the conflict.
China has faced criticism from the West for its perceived support of Russia’s war efforts, including supplying dual-use materials and purchasing Russian oil, claims Beijing denies. The Victory Day parade underscores China’s growing ambition to assert itself on the global stage, while Trump’s comments highlight lingering tensions over the alignment of global powers and the US’s strategic position in an increasingly multipolar world.
