The U.S. House Oversight Committee has released an alleged birthday letter from Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein. The note, dated 2003, was part of a book created by Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday.
The Letter’s Content
The note is typewritten inside a sketch of a nude woman. Trump’s alleged signature appears as part of the drawing. The dialogue in the note shows “Donald” and “Jeffrey” speaking in riddles.
It ends with the message: “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
Dispute Over Authenticity
Trump, now 79, has strongly denied writing the letter. After The Wall Street Journal reported on its existence in July, he filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the note as fake. She said: “It’s very clear President Donald Trump did not draw this picture and he did not sign it.”
More Notes in the Book
Another entry shows Epstein holding a $22,500 check signed “DJ Trump.” Handwriting experts say the signature looks different from Trump’s usual style.
The note attached to the photo mentions Trump and suggests both men once courted the same woman.
Political Fallout
Democrats on the committee published Trump’s alleged note before releasing the full book. Republican chairman James Comer accused them of cherry-picking documents to politicize the case.
Despite this, the committee insists the material is central to understanding Epstein’s network and its connections.
Background on the Case
Epstein died in 2019 in a New York jail while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges. His associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, is serving a 20-year prison sentence in Texas.
The committee has also subpoenaed bank records, estate documents, and testimony from prominent figures linked to Epstein. The investigation continues to fuel debate over who knew what and when.
