US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Hamas, threatening to “go in and kill” members of the militant group if it continues to carry out killings in Gaza. The remarks, shared Thursday on his Truth Social platform, come amid growing concerns over reported executions of Palestinian civilians following a ceasefire deal with Israel.
“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” Trump posted, without specifying what he meant by “we.” He later clarified that the United States military would not necessarily be involved, but hinted at potential alternative measures.
The ceasefire deal, a 20-point agreement backed by Washington, led to a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. However, reports suggest Hamas has since intensified its control over war-torn areas, launching public crackdowns and executing alleged collaborators.
Admiral Brad Cooper, the top US commander in the Middle East, demanded on Wednesday that Hamas halt the shootings and comply with the terms of the truce. His remarks followed increasing criticism of Hamas’s actions from international observers and human rights groups.
Trump, however, appeared unfazed earlier in the week, calling the killings “gang violence” and saying they “didn’t bother” him much. “That’s OK. It’s a couple of very bad gangs,” he remarked during a White House cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
During his recent visit to Israel and Egypt, Trump maintained that Hamas had initially been cooperative in implementing the truce. “They have been open about wanting to stop the problems,” he said aboard Air Force One.
His latest warning signals a tougher stance, suggesting that Washington could reconsider its hands-off approach if the Gaza killings continue.
