Mugithi star and police officer Samidoh, whose real name is Samuel Muchoki, has returned to Kenya, quelling rumours that he had fled the country to escape an arrest warrant. The singer, who had been in the United States, addressed growing public speculation surrounding his brief departure, the status of his police job, and claims that he might be planning to resign.
Upon his arrival, Samidoh sat down for a candid chat in a relaxed setting where he explained the real reason behind his return. According to him, the trip back home was prompted by a personal emergency. He dismissed any suggestion that he was hiding or running away from the law. “I had a small emergency and decided to come back quickly. I’m a law-abiding citizen. I have wronged no one. This is my home, and I can’t run away from it,” he said.
He further emphasized that he was peaceful and unafraid, adding, “I’ve already handled the issue that brought me here, and now I’m getting ready to head back to the US. I have nothing to fear because I haven’t done anything wrong.”
One of the key issues stirring public interest was an arrest warrant reportedly issued against him after he was labelled a deserter from the police service. This sparked speculation about whether Samidoh was contemplating stepping down from his position. However, he firmly denied any plans to resign.
“I’m still working. If I’m given the opportunity, I’ll continue serving. If things get tough, then it’s fine. But I’ve never thought about resigning — that’s just people putting words in my mouth. When the right time comes, things will unfold as they should,” he explained. He even recalled his intense police training, highlighting his dedication and resilience. “I remember running in the heat for over 10 kilometres when we were joining. That’s not something you forget.”
Despite the swirling rumours and the pressure that comes with public scrutiny, Samidoh appeared confident and unbothered. “I’m not intimidated. They can’t sell us fear. We can’t run away from our own country — who would we leave it to? I am not shaken.”
His return to the country sparked a wave of reactions online. Many fans and followers expressed support and admiration, flooding social media with prayers, coded encouragement, and well-wishes. Some offered words of advice and caution, while others praised his courage and wisdom in addressing the situation head-on.
In a separate message that resonated with many Kenyans, Samidoh also weighed in on recent events that have stirred the nation — including the shooting of Boniface Kariuki during protests in Nairobi. While he didn’t mention the incident by name, his statement reflected strong undertones of justice and freedom, which many interpreted as a subtle stand against police violence and systemic injustice.
Amid all the noise, Samidoh remains focused, composed, and firmly rooted in both his career and his principles. Whether performing on stage or serving in uniform, he continues to navigate the challenges of public life with a measured, fearless stance.
